Nanotechnology and ctDNA Could Improve Monitoring of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy
Published in Journals, Nanomedicine, Personalized medicine.
A new review in the International Journal of Nanomedicine examines how nanotechnology could improve the detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) during neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
ctDNA provides molecular information released by tumors into the bloodstream. Nanotechnology-based detection approaches may help increase sensitivity and enable faster monitoring of how tumors respond to treatment.
Toward more precise cancer monitoring
The review highlights nanoparticle and nanosensor approaches that could support earlier detection of treatment response or residual disease. The authors also note important barriers before routine clinical use, including assay standardization, reproducible manufacturing, prospective validation and cost-effectiveness.
