Targeted Inhaled Nanomedicine for COPD: New Review Maps a Path Toward Precision Therapy
Published in Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery, Journals, Nanomedicine.
A new review in the International Journal of Nanomedicine explores targeted inhaled nano-drug delivery systems for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The approach aims to deliver drugs more precisely within the lungs while improving local retention and reducing unwanted systemic exposure. Different nanocarrier designs may also be engineered for anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-infective or drug-resistance-related functions.
Precision nanotherapeutics for lung disease
The review discusses translational barriers including limitations of preclinical models, patient heterogeneity and regulatory requirements. It also highlights emerging approaches such as AI-guided nanocarrier design and multi-omics patient stratification.
Together, these strategies point toward more personalized inhaled nanomedicine, although substantial clinical validation is still required.
