AstraZeneca has completed its $2 billion equity investment in Summit Therapeutics. The companies say the funding will support development of ivonescimab, a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and VEGF, in combination with antibody-drug conjugates across cancer types.

A previously announced collaboration will evaluate sonesitatug vedotin with ivonescimab. AstraZeneca and Summit also intend to agree on a broader development programme combining other AstraZeneca cancer medicines with ivonescimab.

A separate collaboration announced on October 2 involves AstraZeneca, Daiichi Sankyo and Summit. It will evaluate Datroway, also called datopotamab deruxtecan, with ivonescimab in several tumour types, including lung and breast cancers.

Today’s announcement confirms completion of the investment. It does not report new efficacy results or establish approval of these proposed combinations. Their benefits and risks must be evaluated in the relevant clinical studies.
