Elsevier Launches ClinicalKey Nursing AI for Cited Answers at the Point of Care

Published in Artificial Intelligence, Tools.

Elsevier announced the global launch of ClinicalKey Nursing AI on September 29, 2026. The product is designed to help nurses ask clinical questions in natural language and receive answers linked to supporting sources.

According to Elsevier, the system draws on nursing journals, clinical skills, guidelines and professional reference material. Intended uses include questions about procedures, medications and discharge planning. The company says access is being rolled out to customers during 2026.

Elsevier reports that more than nine in ten registered nurses in a pilot felt more confident in decision-making, and three quarters said the tool saved time. These are vendor-reported user responses, not evidence that the product improves patient outcomes.

The launch adds a nursing-specific option to the expanding clinical AI market. Its role is to support professional judgment; institutions will still need to assess answer quality, workflow fit and appropriate use in their own settings.
