Nolla announces Utah AI acne prescription pilot, with phased physician review

On October 5, 2026, Nolla Health announced access to its Nolla Derm AI prescribing pilot for Utah residents aged 18 and older. The app assesses acne using patient information and facial photographs; the company advertises subscriptions starting at $4.99 per month.
Utah’s official agreement record, signed September 22, limits the pilot to initial prescriptions and renewals for specified topical treatments for mild to moderate acne. Oral drugs, isotretinoin and severe acne are excluded.
Crucially, two Utah-licensed physicians must review every prescription before transmission in the first stage. Later retrospective review and sampling require written state approval. The agreement also requires patient screening, pharmacist disclosure, adverse-event reporting and monthly monitoring.
As checked on October 5, the company described the service as available, while the state record still said the demonstration period had not started. The announcement therefore does not establish that autonomous prescribing without prior physician review has begun. Utah explicitly distinguishes sandbox participation from product endorsement.
