Talus Bio Opens Ptarmigan-1 Portal for Structure-Free Drug Discovery

Published in Artificial Intelligence, Drugs development & discovery, Tools.

Talus Bio announced on October 1, 2026 that researchers can now explore its Ptarmigan-1 model through a public web portal. The model was introduced in July; the new development is access to an interactive screening tool.

Ptarmigan-1 predicts protein–small-molecule engagement from protein sequence and compound chemistry without requiring a three-dimensional protein structure. Talus says it was trained using interaction data from living human cells, with the aim of reaching flexible or disordered targets that can challenge structure-based approaches.

The portal supports screening an individual human protein against a default compound collection or an uploaded library. Users can inspect predicted hits and residue-level binding regions. AlphaFold structures can be displayed for visualisation, although the model does not use them to generate predictions.

At launch, Talus specifies limits of 10,000 compounds per library and ten screens per day. Larger campaigns require contacting the company. These outputs are research predictions requiring experimental validation; access to the portal does not establish clinical efficacy or safety of any proposed molecule.
