WhiteLab Genomics announced a $26 million Series B financing led by AVP, with participation from Yaday Health, Blast Club, Omnes Capital and Debiopharm Innovation Fund. The funding will support experimental validation of delivery systems and genetic payloads designed with its ALFRED artificial intelligence platform.

The company plans to expand work across viral and non-viral delivery, including lipid nanoparticles, and synthetic promoters that control therapeutic gene expression. It also intends to strengthen commercial operations in North America, Europe and Asia.

WhiteLab reports that AI-designed adeno-associated virus candidates, developed with the Paris Brain Institute, crossed the blood-brain barrier in in vivo studies while showing preferential brain targeting. These are company-reported research findings; the financing announcement does not establish safety or efficacy in patients.

The immediate news is additional funding for validation and development. Whether the resulting designs can become effective human therapies will require further evidence.
