Carterra announced a research collaboration with AstraZeneca on October 7 to develop laboratory hardware and software that connect experimental systems with AI-driven drug discovery.
The collaboration targets a recurring design-and-test cycle: AI proposes candidate molecules, laboratory experiments assess their properties, and the resulting measurements inform subsequent designs. Carterra’s engineering and software teams will work with AstraZeneca scientists and automation specialists on standardized experimental data and systems that make those data usable in machine-learning workflows.
Carterra supplies high-throughput surface plasmon resonance platforms for antibody and small-molecule discovery. The announced collaboration concerns the infrastructure needed to link these laboratory measurements with computational design.
This is a development initiative. The announcement does not establish that the resulting system produces better clinical candidates, reduces development costs by a measured amount, or improves patient outcomes. Those benefits require subsequent validation.
