CHAIN Launches European Network to Validate AI for Cardiovascular Care

Published in Artificial Intelligence, Tools.

Publication date: October 7, 2026.

The European Society of Cardiology has announced CHAIN, the European Cardiovascular Health Data and AI Network. Its launch statement is dated October 7 and was distributed on October 6. Funded through the EU4Health Programme, the 36-month initiative brings together 53 partners from 20 European countries.

The project aims to connect hospitals, health data hubs and disease registries through a federated ecosystem so that cardiovascular AI tools can be tested, evaluated and deployed across healthcare settings. It builds on the ESC’s EuroHeart registry network.

Planned outputs include a European repository of validated tools and AI Passports describing performance, safety and suitability for clinical use. Six practical use cases across 13 countries will address prevention, early detection, decision support and complex cardiovascular care.

This is an infrastructure and validation initiative. The announcement describes intended work rather than completed clinical results, and does not establish that participating AI tools already improve patient outcomes or have regulatory approval.
