Curia announced on October 5 a $28 million investment in sterile active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing at its Valladolid facility in Spain. The project covers steroid and non-steroid products, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2028.
According to the company, the expansion will support injectable suspensions and other complex sterile formulations. Its planned capabilities combine aseptic crystallization, milling and micronization with closed processing systems and barrier isolators intended to limit operator contact during sterile handling.
Curia says the facility will accommodate quantities ranging from grams to metric tons and offer customized aseptic packaging. The investment follows a separate $4 million upgrade to the site’s API aseptic suites, completed in May.
This is a manufacturing expansion announcement. The new capacity is planned rather than operational, and the release does not provide measured reductions in contamination, production costs or development timelines.
