Paris-based Rivercell announced a $25 million seed round led by HV, with participation from HCVC, Alven and Bpifrance Digital Venture. The funding will support its biological data-generation platform, expansion of its Paris wet laboratory and an AI Virtual Cell program.
Rivercell aims to generate large-scale, time-resolved, multimodal single-cell data showing how human cells respond to drugs and genetic changes. Those experimental datasets will train an AI model intended to predict cellular responses computationally.
The company describes a combined approach involving purpose-built measurement technology, laboratory experiments and AI simulation. Its intended application is to help drug-discovery researchers prioritize experiments and investigate disease-related cell behavior.
This is a funding and development announcement. The release does not present independent benchmark results establishing prediction accuracy, a demonstrated reduction in drug-development failures or clinical benefits. The model’s usefulness will depend on experimental validation and its ability to generalize beyond the training data.
