ZEISS previews MATRIX-VR and updates digital ophthalmic workflows — October 7, 2026

Published in Artificial Intelligence, Tools.

October 7, 2026 — ZEISS announced ophthalmic workflow updates on October 6 ahead of its AAO exhibition in New Orleans, October 10–12.

The company will preview MATRIX-VR, a virtual-reality headset for visual field assessment powered by Envision Health Technologies. It is designed to complement Humphrey Field Analyzer testing and connect screening results with clinical workflows. The device remains under development and is not for commercialization in the United States.

ZEISS also described updates to VisioGen, its AI-assisted website inquiry platform. A licensed optometrist reviews every reply. New functions address practice visibility, while integration with major electronic health record and practice-management systems connects inquiries and scheduled evaluations with existing records.

The company’s cloud-based CLINIC 360 software, which ZEISS reports has recently received FDA clearance, aggregates ophthalmic clinical data and supports workflow analytics.

These announcements describe product features and planned demonstrations. Results reported from three VisioGen practices are implementation observations, not controlled evidence of better medical outcomes. The preview of MATRIX-VR likewise does not establish diagnostic performance or commercial availability.
