Genflow Biosciences announced a Japanese patent allowance covering SIRT6 variants intended for preventing or treating age-related diseases. The update concerns intellectual property supporting its gene-therapy platform, rather than new evidence of longer human lifespan.
According to the company, the Japan Patent Office allowed all 16 claims in application 2024-515284. The decision was dated September 15 and dispatched September 24. Registration will follow payment of the required fee. The application belongs to the University of Rochester and co-applicants and is exclusively licensed to Genflow.
Genflow also reported that additional animal-health companies have signed confidentiality agreements to evaluate its SIRT6 therapy for companion animals. These agreements open discussions; they are not announced licensing deals, veterinary approvals or completed efficacy studies.
The company’s broader platform uses SIRT6c, a variant identified in centenarians, with human development programs including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis and ophthalmology, alongside veterinary research in ageing dogs.
The October 9 announcement describes patent and partnering progress. It supplies no new controlled human clinical results demonstrating rejuvenation, disease prevention or lifespan extension.
