Kawasaki Heavy Industries has completed a prototype of Home LEO, a social robot intended to support older adults living at home. The company describes a system combining physical AI, environmental recognition and autonomous movement with personalized conversation and daily assistance.
The announced feature set includes noticing unusual situations such as falls, changes in physical condition or unattended fire hazards, as well as helping users find and receive household items. Kawasaki explicitly notes that the feature list includes functions planned for future development.
Home LEO is also intended to connect home support with medical and nursing-care services. Kawasaki says sharing recorded care information would require user consent and appropriate information management.
The company plans demonstration trials with government bodies, care institutions and AI companies, targeting launch in fiscal 2028. That is a development objective rather than confirmation of commercial availability.
The prototype announcement provides no clinical trial evidence that the robot reduces falls, improves health outcomes or safely substitutes for caregivers. Demonstrations will need to establish how its proposed functions perform in everyday home environments.
