Saol completes BEACON phase III enrollment for investigational knee-pain injection

Published in Drugs development & discovery.

October 9, 2026 — Saol Therapeutics announced on October 8 that enrollment in BEACON, its pivotal phase III trial of SL1002 for chronic knee osteoarthritis pain, was completed on October 2.

BEACON, registered as NCT07226258, is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study evaluating safety and efficacy. More than twenty U.S. sites participated, and Saol expects topline results in the second quarter of 2027.

SL1002 is an investigational perineural chemoneurolytic injection using the company’s CYCLOPHLEX technology. Completing enrollment is an operational milestone; it does not establish that treatment reduces pain or meets the trial’s efficacy objectives.

Saol plans an additional phase III knee-pain study to support a potential regulatory filing. Separately, the company has been granted an end-of-phase-II meeting with the FDA to discuss development in spasticity.

The spasticity program is distinct from BEACON. The announcement does not report that its phase III program has begun, and SL1002 is not approved by the FDA or another regulatory authority for any use.
