Sopris Capital announced that it has completed the acquisition of Blackford Analysis from Bayer. Blackford provides infrastructure that helps hospitals and medical-imaging equipment manufacturers evaluate, deploy and manage AI applications.
The company’s platform offers more than 130 imaging AI applications from over 45 partner vendors, according to the announcement. Its role is to coordinate multiple algorithms within existing radiology workflows rather than provide one universal diagnostic model.
Sopris plans to combine Blackford under Azra AI, another portfolio company focused on identifying patients with cancer and other complex illnesses and coordinating their care. The proposed connection would link imaging analysis with subsequent patient identification and follow-up. Sopris expects that corporate step to finish in the coming days or weeks and promises a further announcement.
Blackford is expected to remain a separate legal entity, with operations in Scotland and the United States and continued support for existing customers and partners.
This is an ownership and integration announcement. It contains no new comparative clinical trial showing that the combined services improve diagnostic accuracy, patient survival or treatment outcomes.
