Viome launches pancreatic cancer enzyme-activity blood test with validation limits
Published in Diseases!, Tools.
October 9, 2026 — Viome PRO announced CancerDetect Pancreatic on October 8, a physician-ordered blood test measuring enzyme activity associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The laboratory-developed test is intended for adults aged 50 or older and processed in Viome’s CLIA-certified laboratory.
Viome reported 86% sensitivity for stage I and II cancers and 90% specificity against healthy controls in blinded serum-sample validation. These comparisons should not be interpreted as established performance in routine screening: the company states that patients with pancreatitis or pancreatic cysts were not evaluated, and performance in the intended-use population may differ.
The test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. FDA. It detects an associated biochemical signal and does not itself diagnose cancer. A detected result requires pancreatic imaging and clinical assessment, while a negative result does not exclude disease.
The launch adds a functional enzyme-based approach to early-detection research and clinical testing. Whether it improves outcomes or performs reliably across relevant high-risk populations requires further evidence.
