BioTissue Reports Preliminary Phase 2 Findings for TTAX03 in Dry Eye Disease

Published in Biology, Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery.

Publication date: October 10, 2026.

BioTissue announced on October 9 that it will present Phase 2 results for TTAX03, an investigational biologic derived from human birth tissue, at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in New Orleans.

The multicenter, randomized, double-masked study enrolled 74 adults with mild to moderate dry eye disease. Participants received one of three TTAX03 concentrations or a saline control, with treatment administered under a bandage contact lens for five days. The primary objective was ocular and general safety through 12 weeks.

According to the company, no treatment-related serious adverse events occurred in any group. The highest concentration showed the greatest improvement in reported symptoms and eye dryness, alongside a higher frequency of complete resolution of corneal staining. The announcement also reports a change in best-corrected visual acuity at Day 85 without providing its magnitude.

These preliminary findings require further study. The release does not supply detailed effect sizes or statistical comparisons, and absence of serious treatment-related events in a small trial does not establish long-term safety. Additional research is needed to determine efficacy, dose and treatment regimen.
