MannKind announced on October 9 new analyses of Furoscix ReadyFlow, its subcutaneous furosemide autoinjector, for presentation at the HFSA annual meeting. The company reports additional evidence on drug exposure and diuretic effects relevant to outpatient fluid-overload management.
A randomized crossover study compared injection into the thigh or upper arm with intravenous furosemide. Both injection sites met the predetermined bioequivalence criteria for overall drug exposure. Relative bioavailability was 91.3% for the thigh and 92.7% for the arm, with similar urine output and urinary sodium excretion across treatments.
A separate post-hoc analysis compared ReadyFlow with the Furoscix On-body Infusor using data from different studies. The company cautions that the populations differed, limiting interpretation of that comparison.
According to MannKind, ReadyFlow received US FDA approval in July 2026 for edema associated with heart failure or chronic kidney disease in adults. The current announcement adds pharmacology findings rather than a new approval.
Comparable drug exposure and urine output do not by themselves establish fewer hospitalizations or improved survival. Those clinical benefits cannot be inferred from these analyses.
