Mediar Therapeutics announced on October 7 that its Phase 2 WISPer trial of MTX-463 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has completed enrollment. The study recruited 168 adults across more than 70 sites in North and South America, Europe and Australia.
The randomized, double-blind study compares intravenous MTX-463 with a matching placebo, administered every four weeks for 24 weeks. Its primary endpoint is the change in forced vital capacity, a lung-function measurement, from baseline to Week 24. Exploratory analyses will examine blood biomarkers and outcomes among participants receiving background IPF medications.
MTX-463 is a human IgG1 antibody targeting WISP1, a secreted protein implicated in fibrotic signaling. Mediar is running the trial under a licensing agreement with Lilly, which has the right to take over subsequent development after Phase 2.
This announcement marks completion of recruitment, while treatment and evaluation remain ongoing. It reports no Phase 2 efficacy results and does not establish that MTX-463 reverses lung scarring in patients.
