Secretome Reports Early STM-01 Tolerability Findings in Ten Heart-Failure Patients

Published in Biology, Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery.

Publication date: October 10, 2026.

Secretome Therapeutics announced on October 9 that initial clinical findings for STM-01 in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction will be presented at the Heart Failure Society of America meeting on October 11.

The Phase 1 study enrolled ten patients in an open-label dose-escalation design. Five received 100 million neonatal cardiac progenitor cells and five received 200 million cells, with administrations on Days 0 and 28 and follow-up through Day 56. Assessments included safety, echocardiography, walking capacity, patient-reported health status and biomarkers.

According to the announcement, nine treatment-emergent adverse events occurred in five participants; none were considered related to STM-01. No deaths or adverse events leading to discontinuation, withdrawal or treatment interruption were reported.

The candidate is intended to harness factors released by the cells that may influence inflammation, fibrosis and tissue repair. These proposed biological effects remain distinct from demonstrated clinical benefit.

The small, uncontrolled study provides early tolerability information. It cannot establish efficacy, exclude uncommon risks or demonstrate durable improvement in heart failure. Larger controlled trials and longer follow-up would be needed.
