Acoramidis linked to fewer hospitalizations in observational ATTR-CM comparison

Published in Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery.

Published October 11, 2026. BridgeBio reported a new observational comparison of acoramidis and tafamidis for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), presented at the Heart Failure Society of America meeting today.

The retrospective study used Epic COSMOS electronic health records. After propensity-score matching, it included 910 people starting acoramidis and 1,774 starting tafamidis.

Acoramidis was associated with an 18% lower hazard of a composite outcome combining death, hospitalization, new atrial fibrillation or intensified diuretic treatment (hazard ratio 0.82; 95% confidence interval 0.73–0.93). Cardiovascular and heart-failure hospitalization hazards were each 27% lower. Differences in death alone and new atrial fibrillation alone were not statistically significant.

Limits: These are associations from routine-care records, rather than a randomized comparison. Matching cannot eliminate all confounding, and follow-up was relatively short. According to the announcement, the full analysis is undergoing journal peer review. The findings do not establish that one drug causes better survival than the other.
