Beactica selects TEAD protein degrader BEA-28 for further preclinical cancer development

Published October 12, 2026. Beactica Therapeutics announced on October 6 that it selected BEA-28 as a preclinical candidate targeting TEAD transcription factors for biomarker-selected cancers.
BEA-28 is a small molecule designed to recruit the cell’s protein-disposal machinery to remove TEAD proteins. These proteins participate in the Hippo–YAP/TAZ signaling pathway, which can contribute to tumor growth and resistance to treatment.
The company reports TEAD degradation and tumor regression in xenograft models of mesothelioma and KRAS-mutant lung cancer. It also reports reversal of acquired resistance to KRAS inhibitors in cellular models.
Next steps include further candidate validation, preliminary toxicology, scaled-up synthesis and formulation work. Studies supporting an application to begin human testing are planned after formal candidate drug nomination.
Scope: These are company-reported laboratory and animal findings. BEA-28 has not demonstrated safety or efficacy in humans and is not approved. The announcement marks a preclinical development decision, not a clinical treatment breakthrough.
