Fujifilm Launches Synapse Pathology v3.0 and Previews Research-Only AI Foundry

Fujifilm announced Synapse Pathology v3.0 on October 12, adding more than 50 features and functions to its digital pathology platform. Changes include worklist sorting, slide tagging, measurement tools and collaboration enhancements.

The release incorporates Synapse AI Orchestrator to exchange information with compatible third-party algorithms. Fujifilm describes expanded access to Ibex applications for malignancy detection in prostate, breast and gastric specimens, alongside updates to its own TissueSync and TissueDirect algorithms.

At Pathology Visions later this month, Fujifilm also plans to demonstrate Synapse Pathology AI Foundry, a pathology foundation model trained on millions of images. A gastrointestinal specimen demonstration is intended to distinguish normal, inflammatory, atypical and malignant conditions.

Evidence limits: AI Foundry is explicitly designated for research use only. The product announcement gives no diagnostic-accuracy results or patient-outcome evidence for the new model. Platform integration and a conference demonstration should not be interpreted as clinical validation or authorization for every AI application.
