Lonza and Onava announced a research collaboration on October 9 to connect AI-based biologics design with laboratory validation. Under a Research Evaluation Agreement, Onava will use Lonza’s GS Gene Expression System and GS Ori-Go vectors to generate protein-expression data.
The companies plan to feed these measurements into subsequent design cycles, helping Onava assess candidates earlier and refine its predictive models. The stated goal is to consider biological activity alongside developability and manufacturability, rather than treating expression solely as a later production issue.
Onava expects to apply the technology across selected internal programs and external partnerships. Lonza could support cell-line, process-development and manufacturing work as candidates progress.
Evidence limits: This announcement describes access to research technology and a planned workflow. It provides no comparative performance data, named clinical candidate or human efficacy results. Claims about faster development or better molecules remain goals requiring experimental validation.
