Ocugen announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Roots Pharmaceutical and its strategic partner Al-Dhow International Holding for OCU400 in the Middle East and North Africa. OCU400 is a modifier gene therapy being developed for retinitis pigmentosa.
According to the October 14 company announcement, the agreement includes an upfront fee and potential initial development payments totaling up to US$4 million, potential sales milestones of up to US$255 million, and royalties of 22% of net sales. Ocugen will manufacture and supply the product. These potential payments should not be read as money already received.
The company says its Phase 3 liMeliGhT trial remains underway, with topline results expected in the first quarter of 2027 and regulatory submissions planned afterward.
The news concerns commercial preparations for possible future access. It does not report new trial results or establish regulatory approval in the licensed region. Clinical benefit, safety and the anticipated timeline remain subject to further evidence and regulatory review.
