AstraZeneca and insitro Partner on AI Drug Discovery for Liver and Heart Diseases

Published in Artificial Intelligence, Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery.

AstraZeneca announced an AI drug-discovery partnership with insitro today, targeting metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and cardiomyopathies.

insitro’s Virtual Human platform will combine human and cellular data to investigate disease drivers and develop candidate medicines. AstraZeneca will advance selected programmes.

The agreement includes US$40 million upfront, up to approximately US$1.46 billion in conditional development and commercial milestones, and potential royalties.

What this means: this is a research and licensing agreement, not evidence that a new treatment works. Milestone payments depend on future achievements; the headline potential value is not money already paid.
