MTX325 Parkinson’s Phase 1b Study Doses First Patient

Published in Brain/Neurology, Diseases!, Drugs development & discovery.

Published October 15, 2026.

Mission Therapeutics announced that the first participant with Parkinson’s disease has received MTX325 in its Phase 1b study.

The experimental oral drug inhibits USP30 and is intended to improve mitochondrial quality control. The trial plans to assess biological mechanism, safety and tolerability in 36 people with mild to moderate Parkinson’s disease, following earlier testing in healthy volunteers.

Limits: starting a trial does not demonstrate clinical benefit. Whether MTX325 can slow Parkinson’s progression remains unproven; this announcement reports a development milestone, not efficacy results.
